Introduction to Fichte and transcendental philosophy
pp. 1-8
in: Tom Rockmore, Daniel Breazeale (eds), Fichte and transcendental philosophy, Berlin, Springer, 2014Abstract
This volume of original papers comes at a useful moment in the ongoing debate about German idealism in general and Fichte in particular. Fichte is a widely known transcendental philosopher, obviously a thinker of the first rank. His position is important, but the precise meaning, evaluation, and contemporary interest of "transcendental philosophy," as well its relation to "transcendental method," remains unclear.
