Abstract

Since the advent of the so-called quantitative revolution in geography, there has been an ever-increasing interest in theory construction. One question frequently raised in discussion is whether or not human geography possesses a group of theories that are distinct from economic, political, or social theory. Frequently such notions as central place theory or the gravity model are propounded as support for the fact that theorising is a valid activity for geographers.
