Abstract

The chapter proposes a brief account of what may be called "gender silencing" in the context of Translation Studies and their role and functioning in Poland in the light of the concept of Knowledge Translation. It discusses the specificity of the openly anti-gender discourses in Poland, as well as the practices which, as it were, implicitly silence gender-related questions and problems, through the traditionally distributed attitudes to the gender-neutral positioning of academic problematizations as more objective and scientifically valid. Translation Studies offers, in this context, a sphere which may aptly illustrate the role of the theoretical grounding of translation practices in Poland and their frequent insensitivity to gender-related issues.
