Abstract

No scientist, and certainly no other scholar in any field of thought has ever reached Isaac Newton's reputation. Only among legendary warlords, generals and great monarchs, can we find those deserving to occupy pedestals of equal standing. Born during Cromwell's revolution, Newton lived in an age of turmoil, spending his youth in the midst of the Restoration and a witness to the ascent to power of William of Orange: hard moments in which thoughts accelerate and become capable of understanding the new tides of the times and of answering the doubts and nonsense of the age.It was a time to dream new dreams and generate new ideas, to rebuild the world.
